Sorry for the delay in getting the forums back up. I just wanted to clean things up a bit first. Let me know if you come across any problems. Thanks for your patience!

a micro quake today at the same place as the 3.2 [the other day] on the Concord fault.
just Look at what's built on it! sun valley shopping mall, a college, there's a lot of businesses in this flat area
this one shows the Berkeley Hills and the "break" as I mentioned where the tunnel goes to Orinda. it looks like a circular pattern on the east side. I read they suspected a volcano erupted and sunk. as Don knows, Hollister and North Berkeley have something in common. it's a type of rock this area is named after, Northbrae Rhyolite.

This video about the Hayward fault says the areas that have small movement are least likely for a bigger hit, the areas other than the yellow ones on their map shoes where the tension is greatest. I was shocked at how much creep that fault has watching this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPOxIzUUPXw&feature=player_embedded
Also I am wondering, what was the island in my dream? Was it in Greece or was it in the Pacific somewhere because people are saying tomorrow is supposed to be when a tsunami is generated.
LAST MONTH’S EARTHQUAKES The Seismic Window of August 09-16, 2010 included the third of just four top Perigean Spring Tides for the year. The results were rather satisfying, with three of four predictions scoring 100%, for an average of 75%. Only the Northwest failed to produce a 3.5+M quake when all failed to reach within 0.3M of that level within 3 days of the predicted Window. Here are the successes and some others:
(1) Within 140 miles of Mt. Diablo there was a 3.9-4.0M quake was centered at Aromas, near Hollister on August. This scored 100%. A 3.8M quake near Portola on Aug 9th was 150 miles from Mt. Diablo, scoring 90%, as it was 10 miles too far. A 3.7M near Mammoth Lakes was in the proper place and magnitude range, but it was six hours too early to score even 70% for the timing.
(2) A 3.7M near Lompoc on August 10th was 135 miles from Los Angeles, just five miles within the predicted 140 mile radius, but clearly scored 100%. Ten miles NNE of Palm Springs an epicenter for a 4.1M quake was recorded on August 6th , which was two days early, for a score of 80%; On Aug. 8th .Calexico had a 3.5M 146 miles from L.A. (score 80%)
(3) For Washington/Oregon no quake exceeded 3.2M during the Window, or within three days of the Window. Thus the score was ZERO, despite a 4.5M event near Vancouver Island during the Window.
(4) Major successes were recorded with an unprecedented three unrelated major quakes in the Ring of Fire between August 9-13th. The first was at Vanuatu (7.3M), the second at Ecuador (7.1M), and the third in the Mariana Islands (7.2)Mw). The last one was later “officially” lowered to 6.9M although it was headlined around the world media as measuring 7.2Mw, as reviewed y a seismologist from NEIC. In any case, my prediction for at least one major quake during the Window scored 100%. Thus my August rating was 100+100+0+100=300/4 =75%, or just average overall.
A quick review of other interesting quakes: Wyoming (3.3M, 3.0M Aug 7-8); Quebec, Canada (3.2M Aug 7); West Texas 3.4M Aug 7); and Missouri 2.5M Aug. 10.
PREDICTIONS FOR SEPTEMBER As indicated earlier, this Seismic Window of September 6-13, 2010 is the fourth and last Perigean Spring Tide for the year. It includes the New Moon and perigee on September 8-9 and maximum Golden Gate tides. I predict quakes with the following parameters: (1) 3.5-6.0M within 140 miles of Mt. Diablo (37.9N; 121.9W) (2) 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of Los Angeles (34N; 118W) (3) 3.5-6.0M with an epicenter location of Washington or Oregon. (4) 7.0+M major quake globally, probably in the Pacific Ring of Fire.
Hi Annette. The Yucca Mountain site has been closed without ever receiving one single shipment of nuclear waste and most likely will never be used because of the fault that was found in the area. So for the time being any and all nuclear waste will be stored at the facilities that are using nuclear material. To my way of thinking that makes them a greater hazard then being stored at Yucca Mountain. Take Care...Don
Hi Don. I thought they'd already started filling Yucca Mnt.? What's a good alternative location? I for one wish they'd stop making it.. thinking of Will Rogers saying, when they got air conditioning in Washington it was our downfall. He said, they used to have to stop making laws and go home when it got too hot. then they'd go home and get in touch with their constituency.
